I started a new job in tech support last week. I really like this job! I count myself lucky to have a full-time job, especially in this uncertain economy. However, my progress has been greatly impeaded due to my car taking a crap on me.
The car got out of the shop yesterday. I had them replace the starter (which was tested and didn’t work, thank God because I was just guessing) and the rear driver side tire, which was flat for some reason.
I was going to get gas before I went to work on Friday and the car just wouldn’t start up. It was turning over, but the engine wouldn’t ignite.
After they did their thing, they said that there was something wrong with the wiring and that they were unable to fix it. They referred me to another place in-town that could fix that. They were able to jump the car so that I could get there, but told me not to turn it off until then. Also, they put the old stereo system back in so now I can hear music without my headphones (although the speakers are still as crappy).
After these other guys looked into it, they found that the keyswitch was dead. They then replaced it and my car works again! Yay!
So how much did all this cost? Well, to tow the car out to the first people and replace the tire & the starter cost me $252. To get the keyswitch replaced cost me $154. This totals up to be $406. Yikes!
I borrowed the $252 from Cashland because my stepdad wanted me to junk the car and lease another one like I did with my first Grand Am. Fortunatly, I was unable to get anything at a reasonable price so I decided to get my current car fixed instead. The $154 then came from my first paycheck.
It’ll take me about two checks to pay off Cashland and then I’ll pay back the $100 I owe Jon for gas going back and forth to my previous job (selling Rainbows). After that (pending on no more mishaps), I should be getting back in the green.
Oh, and I fixed something in my previous post. You can now click on the pictures for an enlarged version. I was lazy and forgot to do that.
Well, I’m off to get some lunch since there’s nothing in the house. Bye!
