Today, I’d like to talk about how I first came to YouTube and how I’m currently using it.

Around late 2004-early 2005 when I was still in college, my friends and I would browse around site like Fugly, KillSomeTime, and eBaumsWorld to watch funny video clips as well as pictures. They were basically like the YouTube of their day, but minus the vloggers.

When Lazy Sunday exploded all over the internet, we discovered YouTube. At that point, we just added it to our list of sites to browse around for funny clips. It wasn’t until around 2006 that I began watching people like TokyoCooney, RodgerSwan, and SxePhil. I then wanted to get involved with the community so I signed up for my own YouTube account on March 1st 2006.

Although I had already posted some videos, it wasn’t until I got my own camera in September 2008 that I really began to do stuff, and I’ve been putting out videos ever since.

Well, that’s pretty much it for now. Like I said in the video, more new stuff is on the way (including more Navy videos) so stay tuned. Peace!

After dicking around too much with formatting my Tweets and having them go schizo on me (“We are everywhere on these posts, even within ourselves!!”), I decided to change it up. Instead of doing the copy-paste straight from my Twitter to here like I used to, I copy-paste from my Twitter to Microsoft Word, clean it up, and then copy-paste it here. Although the colors aren’t as Twitter-authentic, I like the overall cleanliness of this new format. What do you guys think?

I’m really diggin’ what Jane Carrey is doing musically and yes, she’s the daughter of one of my comedic idols, Jim Carrey!

Also, I’m both glad and mad that Paul Reed Smith drastically lowered their prices on some of the SE models, more specifically the SE Custom 24 which has gone down from $665 to a paltry $499. If I was still working at Myles’ Dairy Queen and living at The Enclave II, that guitar would be mine come Christmas time!!

Yesterday was a good day! I got paid from my website, bought $20 worth of gas, a 10-pack of DVD+Rs, and tried out those newly-priced double cheeseburgers from Burger King. They were good, but boy were they filling! I didn’t end up eating supper until around 6 or 7, and I ate the burgers around noon!!

I also watched the first 4 episodes of the English-dubbed version of Bamboo Blade yesterday. Although I’m tickled pink at the fact that it’s coming out in America, I do have some gripes about the voice actors. I love Kirino’s VA and have grown to like Tama’s VA too, but I think that Dan’s VA is a very bad fit and Miya-Miya’s VA’s pronunciation of Dan’s name makes it sound like his name is Don.

I know that she’s trying to be accurate with the Japanese pronunciation and I really appreciate that she’s giving her performance that little bit of extra effort, but when it comes to something that could confuse the casual American anime watchers (“Is his name Dan or Don?”), it’s okay to Americanize it and call him Dan.

Well kiddos, I think it’s time to go out and get myself some lunch. Keep it real, homies!

Buy Paramore’s Brand New Eyes from Amazon!

Several weeks ago, I got the newest CD by Paramore, who are one of my favorite bands to come out in the past 10 years. Their newest CD is called Brand New Eyes, and it’s pretty damn awesome to say the least. Let’s begin the review, shall we?:

Personal Backstory

I remember first hearing about Paramore in an issue of Guitar World. Back then, the idea of a female-fronted rock band was a breath of fresh air. I later looked up some of their songs on YouTube and then got their smash hit albums All We Know Is Falling and Riot. I’ve been a Paramore fan ever since. I absolutely love songs like Emergancy, Pressure, Misery Business, and CrushCrushCrush.

Since Riot! was released, Paramore certainly set the bar pretty high for their followup album. Time to dive right into Brand New Eyes!

The Goodies

I’ve got to say, this has got to be Paramore’s most introspective album yet! That’s not to say it’s a giant wussfest chock full of ballads and acoustic numbers, no, far from it!

If the first single Ignorance is any indication, then we’re in for quite a pop punk treat! It’s Paramore through and through, a high energy sound that reminds me of early Good Charlotte and Blink-182 with some Green Day thrown in for taste.

The song that was on the Twilight soundtrack, Decode, is also really well done. The clean guitar parts show off their competent but non-flashy guitar work, which is one of my favorite parts of Paramore. Sure they know how to play, but everything meshes together beautifully without somebody showing off for 30 seconds at a time.

Although I said that this album wasn’t full of acoustic songs and ballads, it does have a couple good ones. The Only Exception and Misguided Ghosts are nicely done without sounding thrown in.

The Baddies & The Uglies

Trying to find faults in this album is like finding faults in a box of cute puppies; sure you might some, but who cares, it’s a box of puppies!

I’ve honeslty tried to find one thing about this album to criticise, but I haven’t found any yet. No crappy thrown-in songs, no fake overly-sappy ballads, no weird experimental freak-outs, nothing. The entire album is seriously all killer, no filler!

The Verdict

With an album that’s greatly introspective but still remains true to the band’s style, Paramore’s Brand New Eyes is a pop-punk delight that’s a perfect successor to Riot!.

Paramore BRAND NEW EYES Album Review

Hey guys, it’s the Andy-San here again.

Work today was surprisingly slow. I talked to Ben for a bit before he went to practice with the band for the first time since he started at UU. I heard from one of the waitresses that they were so busy yesterday that there was a police officer directing traffic! After work, I biked out to Wal-Mart and bought a new sound card for $30 and boy can I tell the difference!

In other news, I’ve got my heart set on this acoustic at the music store. I’m quite picky with acoustic guitars, but I knew that this was the one I should buy (I only felt this way about one other acoustic, a used Alvarez model). I think that tomarrow I’ll put it in layaway since it’ll only take me a week or two (3 at the longest) to buy it. I also found out what other equipment my dad had. The most notable equipment he had is a Vox Super-Beatle, an original Clyde McCoy wah-wah pedal, and 2 (count ‘em, two) Fender Silverface Bassman half-stacks. I tried playing one of the Bassman amps and it didn’t work. My aunt said that my dad removed the speakers to prevent the cones from rotting (“Don’t ask me, I don’t know”) but I couldn’t get a good look in the cabinet to find out. I told my aunt that I want one of the Bassman amps, the Epiphone Coronet, and the Peavey T-40 bass.

Well, I’m gonna watch something so I’ll see you guys later!

In other news, I’ve decided on an ODK revival project. I’ve already run it by Eric and Ben and they both like the idea, but Ben’s pretty much tied up with band practice tomarrow and Eric said that he had to go to Toledo in the morning. I wanted to run by some ideas with them tomarrow and record whenever we have the time. Hopefully, they have ideas as well.

Everyone Needs MoAr Blog Surveys!!!1

Hello friends it’s the Andy-San here kickin’ it in my dorm. I added a new profile pic because I’m bored.

I’ve been working very hard at my schoolwork, which explains my lack of
daily posts ololol! I’m also talking more and more to that special
someone that I’ve mentioned in a couple posts prior. She works hard and thus has a very busy schedule, but I think that a relationship is possible. I’m in no hurry so I’ll take my time with her.

In other news, I’ve been pondering over starting a band for some time now. So far I can’t find anyone on campus who wants to as well. I’m looking for a vocalist, bassist, drummer, and another guitarist (not sure if I’ll be lead or rhythm). The styles of music that I want to play are mainly metal, rock, and punk. I Feel So Productive…

Hey guys it’s the Andy-San with news.

I got to chill with Eriopolis today for a couple hours. He ganked the rest of FullMetal Alchemist from me while we played Magic and E showed me some of his drummin’ skills on a drumpad that he or Ben got. I also finished the song “Play It Loud”, which is a parody-of-sorts of the song “Cool It Now” by New Edition. My vocals aren’t the best, but it’s an okay song considering I made it in about 2 hours. It should be up on ODK’s MySpace soon. Speaking of which, ODK really needs to get together sometime so we can do a full recording. I need to get back in guitar-shape because it’s been too long since I’ve practiced regularly.

So my day was okay until I was getting to my car at the end of my shift with Wal-Mart. Some guy clipped my driver-side mirror on my car; luckily there was no other damage to it. All I know is that it was a white vehicle that struck it from the back since the mirror was 5 feet from the car and there’s a white streak on the side of it. I called the police and they did a police report (not a crash report) on it and the officer told me to give him a call if I found out anything about who struck my car. So after that I told a manager to leave a note for the lady in charge of surveillance about where my car was, the relative time it was hit, and the color of my car and suspected car. I’ll see what’s going on with that tomarrow when I come in to work.

Well that was my day and now I’m going to hit teh sack. Peace!
