It’s time once again to take a look at the past and see how it applies to me today!

In this week’s Deja Vuesday, we take a look back to exactly one year ago when I was looking for a niche to fill:

Hello there!

I bought the SiteBuildIt! kit today and I’ve been using the BrainstormIt! feature, which lets you look up keywords and compare them using the “(demand/supply)*1,000=profitability” formula. I’ve looked up broad terms like “guitar” and “anime” and I’m using the keywords that I get back in order to figure out which niches are profitable and which aren’t.

Here are the broad keywords that I put in that came out with a high profitability:

anime, band, drawing, fiction, japanese, local bands, magic the gathering, manga, shred guitar, and writing.

Out of those broad keywords, I have compiled a list of keywords with the highest demand and the lowest supply (that’s a good thing, hehe). Note the inter-relationships between them. Here they are from least profitable to most:

The last one, “how to draw anime faces”, was the only one to go over 1,000,000 (it was damn close to 2,000,000 in fact). Let me explain. Remember the “(demand/supply)*1,000=profitability” formula I talked about earlier? In essence, I want to build a business around a niche that has a high demand and a low supply. The reasons for this are twofold.

First off, building a business around a niche that has a high demand is like selling ice cream in the summertime. You have a product that is in high demand and that can be immediatly bought by the customers. It’s much harder to sell ice cream in the wintertime than during summer.

Secondly, building a business around a niche that has a low supply will allow the little guy (me!) to harness a generous and steady stream of income much easier than trying to compete with all the big boys. It’s like trying to get food with big mean dudes guarding it.

Now getting back to the numbers. Although I don’t know the details, I can reason that the supply and demand figures are generated by the amount of search engine traffic and other websites’ keywords. Of course, the profitability is generated by dividing the demand by the supply and multiplying it by 1,000. Why 1,000? I dunno.

So what keywords do you think that I should look further into? I can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say about it!

I can’t believe that I bought the SiteBuildIt! kit. Wow! Now don’t get me wrong, it’s perfect for business beginners and people who don’t want to fuss around with technology, but for someone like me who knows a thing or two about how to build a website, it just didn’t work. I got a refund less than a month later and decided to do things my own way.

I’m not trying to discourage you from buying similar products; I’m just saying that what didn’t work for me might work out fine for you and visa-versa.

I was looking at the keywords and I’m kinda bummed that the Magic: The Gathering blog didn’t happen. I planned on helping create a blog about Magic that would have articles by Eriopolis and my other Magic playing friends, but because of everyone’s current workload at college and graduate school, I doubt that it would have fresh content beyond summer and winter breaks.

If everyone is willing to contribute content for it, then I’d be more than happy helping them set everything up and submitting articles myself, although I don’t wanna do everything all the time because it would take too much time away from my own blogging and vlogging. Yes I’m unemployed right now and I have a lot of free time, but that won’t always be the case. I might have a job for a month or two  .

Deja Vuesday – Help Me Find A Niche!!!

Hey guys! Here’s today’s drawing:

Negishi and Co.

This one’s supposed to be Negishi, the main character of Detroit Metal City. I was in the middle of watching it when I realized what time it was.

I plan on drawing 5 characters and showing them all so that you guys (and I) can readily compare them. That’s why I didn’t just crop the most recent drawing. What do you guys think? Should I do it this way or just show the drawing I just did?

This one is supposed to be The Joker, but I fail at perspective among other things. It does make me laugh though, so I guess it’s not all bad. It’s definitely better than my first drawing, I think!

Drawing Of The Day #1 – The Joker

These are my anime/manga sketches.

Looking at my newest drawing in comparison to the other two, it’s like someone else did it. I was totally amazed when I was done. I didn’t really go in with a plan when I drew these characters. I just brought up a random online tutorial and bootstrapped it from there.

As for the online manga tutorial, I’m a looong ways away from doing that. I’ve been doing some hard thinking about developing a website that can earn me money, and I realized that it would take too much time and effort into building another website. Sure I can do it, but it doesn’t feel right to me.

So where do I go from here? Well, I’ve been looking into ways to create more than one blog right here on TheAndySan.com. I think that will be a much more efficient use of my time, money, and resources than by setting up a bunch of different websites. That way, if I wanna talk about guitars one day, I can post about it in my guitar blog. If I wanna talk about what’s going on in my life, I can post it here on my main blog.

I’m gonna be going through all of my posts and properly categorizing them. The reason I’m doing that is to improve my SEO. Besides, a lot of my post titles (especially my older ones) don’t really reveal what’s inside the post so categorizing them will remove most of the guesswork.

Well, I’m gonna see what’s goin’ on online so I’ll see you guys later. Night!

MoAr Manga Drawings

Yeah it’s not much, but I think it’s a good start! I feel a little more confident in pursuing the drawing blog. To be honest, I was beginning to doubt if I could draw anything at all. I know that I’m a looooong way away from drawing my first actual manga, but I feel that it’s now a little more possible.

I think that I’m pretty set on doing the drawing blog. My main problem now is figuring out what to call it. I’m debating between drawanimetoday.com and drawman.com. Do you guys have any suggestions?

My First Manga Drawing!!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been looking over the main keywords that SiteBuildIt! said were the most profitable. I’ve decided that I should make a site about drawing manga characters for beginners. I haven’t drawn anything in a long time, but I think that this will be an excellent learning experience for me.

So why should I make a how-to-draw blog if I can’t draw? Well, it’s quite simple. What better way to learn something than by having a large community help you out? And hey, once I get good at drawing, I can start work on my manga/light novel ideas as well as possibly selling my manga and drawings online. There’s also my Holy Trinity of monetization as well: Ads, Joint Ventures, and Donations. Now before I go all gung-ho on this idea, I want to get some drawing tutorials either from books or online.

I would like to hear what you guys think about this idea. I’m off to watch this anime I got recently called SHUFFLE! Looks like ye olde basic rom-com; my cup o’ tea! Night!
