Vlog 31 – Why I'm Joining The Navy

If you can’t see the video above, click here.

*Update 02/25/2010: Sorry if the video didn’t load, but YouTube was acting funny. Everything should be fixed now though. Thanks for understanding!!*

While I was doing my warmup for my first run of the day, I decided to record a vlog to tell you guys why I’m joining the Navy.

You see, the other day, I received another email from Leo, who you might remember from Vlog 11. In his email, he basically says that he thinks going into the Navy is a really bad idea. Instead, he suggests that I should just sell some of my things in order to rent an efficiency apartment in the city, look for a full-time job out there, and save up for a year without buying any non-essentials (like guitars lol). That way, I have a nice fat wad of cash and my own pad again.

I haven’t emailed him back, and I’m not going to because I think it’s pointless to focus my energy on people who are basically trying to run my life. I know he means well and his heart’s in the right place, but ultimately, I make the decisions when it comes to my future and I think that the Navy is the right place for me, at least for the next four years.

I know that I’ve touched on why I’m joining the Navy, but I haven’t dedicated a whole post/vlog to it, which I think it deserves. There are several reasons why, but most of all I’m joining to start a new life.

I’m also joining the Navy to gain life experience. I’ve noticed for a long time now that the quality of my blog has been going down (I’m sure the sponsored posts haven’t helped the quality either), and because I haven’t been doing anything exciting like traveling or just living life, I think my blog as well as my life would continue to go downhill if something drastic wasn’t done.

Earlier this year, I sat down one day to look at what I’ve done with my life so far and where I’m going and to be honest, I didn’t like it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some fun times and I’ve gotten past some pretty nasty things too; but I felt that I’m not really going anywhere.

I started thinking about what I want to do, like visit Japan and finishing college, and it became clear that I wouldn’t be able to do that without making a big change. Although visiting Japan and recording all my exploits there might seem like a really low goal to some, I think that if it’s that important to me, I should do it no matter what and by any means nessicary.

This became all the more relevent with the passing of Rodger Swan, one of the most watched (and universally liked) j-vloggers from YouTube. Although he was only a year younger than me, he had already done what I want to do and so much more! He had gone to Japan (twice!!), recorded what he did there for others to see, and just plain had fun with his life.

When I die, I want to look back on the fun times and be proud that I got myself out of my parents’ house and where I want to be, surrounded by good friends and family. I also want to leave something for my friends and family to read and watch after I’m gone, which is another reason I like to blog and vlog. It’s sometimes fun to look back at what I’ve recorded and/or written and try to get into my headspace at that point in time.

With my joining the Navy, I’m keeping my goals to a five-year maximum and I don’t want to plan beyond that simply because I tend to overcomplicate things when I do that and even the simplest changes now could have dramatic effects in the future so I would have to replan everything all over again, and I just don’t want that headache. I want to keep myself open to possibilities, but I need to stay focused on my goals as well.

So what would I say to Leo if I were to write him back? I’d thank him for the long and thought-out email, but I’d also say that the Navy is right for me and would help me reach my goals of graduating college and going to Japan.

In the meantime, I’m gonna be training for the Navy as well as looking for a job for some spending cash. Thus far in my training, I’ve lost almost 14 lbs. In order to keep my weight down, I’m gonna focus on not eating after supper because I’ve noticed that I tend to gain weight or stay the same weight whenever I eat after supper, especially if it’s late at night. I go into MEPS this Thursday-Friday so I’m really excited/nervous about it!!

After I get back from that, I’m gonna focus more on performance instead of just weight loss. You see, I have to take a physical test before I even go into boot camp and my goal is to do at least 60 pushups and situps and run 1.5 miles in 12 minutes. I times myself on Sunday, and I got 16 minutes and 24 seconds, which is not bad, but I still have to train myself to lower my time as well as be able to do the situps and pushups.

Well, I’m gonna go eat my dinner so I’ll see you guys later!!

You Has Questions, I Has Answers!

So it’s been awhile since I’ve done a regular post, or at least it seems that way. I thought that I might take this time to answer 3 questions that you might have about what’s been going on around here lately:

01 – What’s Up With All These Short Posts?

In short, it’s because I need the money in order to keep TheAndySan.com up and running. Once I’m in the Navy, I’ll be able to easily make the payments. Heck, I might even splurge and go for DreamHost’s 10-year hosting!

At this rate of writing sponsored posts, I should be able to save this site before the May deadline, but I’m not for certain. Here’s the basic breakdown of my website’s annual costs:

95.40 – One year of hosting

9.95 – One year of domain name registration

Grand Total – 105.35

It’s not impossible to reach that amount, but it will take some effort. As always, donations are welcome and you can donate by clicking one of the orange Donate buttons at the top and bottom of every post. If you have a blog of your own, be sure to read up on the benefits of donating to TheAndySan.com! But I digress…

02 – How’s The Weight Loss For The Navy Coming Along?

In a word, great! For the past 16 days, I’ve been running A LOT on the treadmill as well as doing situps and all that fun stuff. Shoveling snow also helped me lose a couple pounds.

I’ve also been eating healthier too and I’ve cut out eating bread (except for flaxseed bread) and drinking pop. I’ve cut back on some other things, but those are the basics.

In 16 days, I’ve lost 9.4 lbs! I had a couple of weight gain setbacks, but I’m working through them one day at a time. My goal is to lose at least 15 lbs by February 25th so that I can pass my weight inspection for joining the Navy.

03 – When Will You Be Blogging & Vlogging Regularly Again?

That’s the big question! I’m trying to take it all one day at a time so it’s very difficult to write posts on a regular basis. With my online time continuing to be erratic, it might be awhile before I’m able to post regularly again. Of course, I will be able to do it again eventually, but I have no idea exactly when. As my situation changes, you guys will be the first to know about it.

While I can write and schedule posts ahead of time, it’s impossible when it comes to vlogs. Vlogs take up a lot more time than a written post (usually around 3 hours from start to finish, compared to an hour or so of just writing), which can get hectic when you’re trying to get everything done on time.

With that said, I’m gonna go and eat supper. See ya next time!

02/10/2010 – 210.6 lbs (-9.4 lbs Overall)

Vlog 29 – RIP Rodger Swan & I Sold All My Guitars To Join The Navy

If you can’t see the video above, click here.

Hey guys! It’s been awhile since I did any kind of blogging or vlogging so I decided to peek my head in to tell you guys what’s been going on in my life.

Before I begin though, I want to send my condolences to the family of fellow YouTuber and J-vlogger extraordinaire Rodger Swan, who passed away at the age of 23. I’m not sure exactly what he died from (some say it was a stomach condition that progressed to cardiac arrest), but I’ll be sure to tell you guys when I know more about the situation. R.I.P. Rodger!!

Changing gears, I’d like to talk about what I’ve been up to lately. As you guys might know, I’ve been seriously considering joining the Navy due to the local job shortages and lack of college options. Now, I feel that I’m ready to join the services!

However, when I went up to MEPS on Monday to fill out all the paperwork and get examined, they said that I was over their weight requirements. They gave me 30 days to lose the weight and after which, I’ll be reweighed to see if I qualify.

Ever since I got home from MEPS, I’ve been working out and sticking with a strict diet and so far, I’ve lost 3 lbs. My goal is to lose at least 15 lbs by February 25th.

After my stepdad got wind that I failed the weigh-in, he’s been incredibly pissed off at me. So much so that he’s threatening to kick me out again. In order to prevent this, I’ve sold all my guitars and equipment in order to pay for February’s rent. I’m hoping that after I pass my next weigh-in, he’ll take it easy on me. Of course I’ll still be looking for a job, but at least my days here will be numbered so he doesn’t have to worry about me living here forever.

I really hope I get a job soon so that I can pay for the upkeep of TheAndySan.com. It’s not too costly (about $109 a year), but when you don’t have a job and your only source of income is $25+ a month, it’s hard to save up when you really need that $25+ a month for gas money to go out and apply to all these different places.

But anyhoo, I’d better get going. I hope to blog more, but we’ll see what happens! See you next time!

01/27/2010 – 221 lbs (with clothes on)

Deja Vuesday – I Think I'm In Love

Hey guys! I didn’t think I’d have enough time to do a post today, but fortunately I have just enough time to do this week’s Deja Vuesday!!

In this week’s Deja Vuesday, I’m gonna take a look back 3 years ago when I was contemplating a relationship with a foreign exchange student from China:

Hey guys it’s the Andy-San here chizzillin’ in my room after watching a most excellent performance from Frederick Winters in the Student Center. I haven’t laughed so hard in a very long time! Seriously, this guy is the shit!

I think I still have the CD/DVD that I got from him that night lying around here somewhere…

Today I got a job working in the IT department. It’ll be hell on my lunches but I’ll finally have an income and be doing something that I wanna do. I also did my laundry today as well. Since my MP3 player decided to take a monster shit on me (it won’t turn on at all even when it’s plugged into the USB) I was gonna play Tetris until my laundry was done. However I decided to do something far moar entertaining: play my guitar while in my underwear. I’ll set the scene for you; I’m in the laundry room washing/drying my clothes while I’m wearing a shirt, underwear, and socks and on top of that I’m playing my guitar while sitting on the folding table.

The IT job was awesome at first, but it got boring since Adam and Phil didn’t have me do much and I eventually quit in March.

I really want to party at Wright State this weekend, but chances are E is still gonna be drugged out on his pillz til Sunday (he got some weird sickness from Dan and he’s been hopped up on antibiotics since Friday). Dammit E; double-time your pill-poppin’!!!1

Being without a car in college is lame. Just saying.

I’ve been keeping a bit of a secret. Ever since coming back to UU, I’ve been debating over whether I should get into a relationship or not. There’s this one girl that I’m very interested in, but I’m not sure if I should get involved with her because I don’t know if she wants to be more than friends. Damn it’s about as bad as high school, except I actually have a chance with the girl I’m after. On one hand, I really want to start a relationship with her and she would be my first actual girlfriend. On the other hand,  I don’t want to be exclusive before I’ve had some experience with other women. I don’t mean just sexual experience (although that is a plus); rather an overall experience.

Well I’m gonna read some Negima! so catch ya later!

There are times where I regret not getting into a relationship when I was at UU, but then again, it was probably for the best considering that I was booted out at the end of the semester.

Sorry if this week’s Deja Vuesday seemed rushed, but I’m still working on an upcoming vlog that should be uploaded to YouTube sometime next week. I’ll be discussing some very important things in the vlog relating to what’s going on in my life. Stay tuned for that, and I’ll see you guys later!

Deja Vuesday Double Feature – 01/11/2005 & I’m Baaaaaaaaack!!!!1

Before we begin this week’s Deja Vuesday, I’d like to talk to you guys about something important.

After declaring a week or so ago that I was going on hiatus and then writing a bunch of sponsored posts, it might be safe to say that the hiatus is done. I don’t know for sure though as my online time is still limited, which makes scheduling posts (mainly video-based posts) very difficult. Also, I’m usually creatively drained come the beginning of the year so my posts tend to be sporadic and the quality varies.

I just want to say thanks to you guys for still sticking with me throughout all of this and I hope to be back to my regular posting schedule as soon as I can.

Now, without further ado, let’s begin this week’s Deja Vuesday! We’re gonna kick things off with a look back to five years ago when I first played Yu-Gi-Oh! Online:

Hey ya! I just changed the Whuzzupp theme to a much better Earthworm Jim 2 song and I updated the long-forgotten Linx section. I also want to congradulate Eric on his new laptop. Hopefully he’ll update more now.

Actually, Eriopolis recently built himself a killer new desktop! I haven’t seen it yet, but he says it’s got all kinds of awesome stuff in it like a quad-core processor and DDR3 RAM (I bet I’m gonna laugh at myself when I read this years from now)!

Well kids, I finally got my hands on the new Yu-Gi-Oh Online game and I gotta tell ya, it’s got potential. Imagine a Yu-Gi-Oh game that is never out of date; it has all the booster sets and promos, plus there’s a possibility that Upper Deck might release cards exclusive to Yu-Gi-Oh Online. You never know (wink, wink). However, there are drawbacks to the game. Actually, they’re more of double-edged swords than disadvantages. The game has a timer; you get 180 seconds to complete your turn and 30 seconds to decide whether or not to activate the effect of a card. If you run out of time for either situation, you automatically lose. This has actually helped me win a couple duels. On the whole (heh, heh), I like the timer because it eliminates the real scorge of the Yu-Gi-Oh game: the 1-hour turn-takers.

You know the type. The kind of people who just bought a Starter Deck and who can’t decide between wearing black or white socks. Or the kind who used to or still does play Magic or D&D or a similar game, and they’re used to taking forever to finish, and they take ages to finally Set a Monster and End their Turn. No offense to newbies, or the apperantly offensive term n00b, but sometimes you annoy me. Lucky for you, most of the time I’m willing to help you guys out. *sigh* Had to get that off my chest.

By the way, if any of you out there also have the game, my online name is “04smelsa”. We’ll duel sometime. Anyway, the online service is free until around April, but I don’t care. I’ll probably subscribe anyway.

It seems that Yu-Gi-Oh! Online is still going strong despite the franchise’s waning popularity. Although there have been times that I felt like dusting off my old Yu-Gi-Oh! deck, I think that my time as a duelist has long since past. Who knows, I might pick up the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! video game and get back into it all over again. Now, if only there was a Magic: The Gathering video game for the Nintendo DS too…

In other news, the effects of the tsunami still ring here in Ohio, in the form of consistantly BLAH weather. It’s either raining or cloudy. I feel like I’m in Seattle. Now, why do I feel the urge to play Nirvana…?

Anyway, I also added some cool pics in the About Me section. They’re some of my favorite characters. Well, I gotta go. Bye!

“Smooth move, Ex-Lax!”

-John from McDonald’s

While it hasn’t been raining here lately, it has been snowing. A lot! I hate driving in the snow!!

Now let’s finish it off with a look back to three years ago when I came back to UU after being put on academic suspension:

I’m Baaaaaaaaack!!!!1

Sup my peeps this be the Andy-San back here at UU!!! After a grueling period of not knowing if I can come back or not, I’m FINALLY BACK!!!! My mom said that my stepdad and I need some space so she said that I won’t be able to come back home til Spring Break. I’ll definatly have to do my laundry here til then so yeah. I’m so damn psyched to be back in UU again. My stepdad was right about one thing; I do need a job. I’ll look into getting a workstudy job with the IT department tomarrow along with finding out the status of my financial aid.

As you can tell, I was very excited & relieved to be back at UU after I had written back and forth to the admissions department. Unfortunately, as you all know, I was kicked out for good at the end of the semester due to me not giving a crap after finding out that I would need to pay off the previous semester before I could continue and that my financial aid wouldn’t cover it for me.

My life took some major twists and turns after that; some good and some bad. Earlier this month, I made a decision that would help me get back to college and even take me to Japan! I’m gonna record & upload a vlog this week that’ll explain it in more detail. Stay tuned for that!!

In other news, the DoD project fell through because we ran out of time and because I couldn’t play some measures. It also didn’t help that I was facing a possible suspension from UU at the time either. Don’t fear, the majority of the project is done and saved on E’s hard drive so I’ll supergank it so he doesn’t accidentely delete it (he has a bad habit of doing that). Perhaps we’ll have it done for the next free month. Sorry guys.

Well I’m gonna go celebrate my return with E and Dan so peace-out to all my homies and a big thanks to everyone who supported me during this very rough patch in my life.

Ah, the DoD project! Yeah, although I’ve tried many times to finally get it recorded with everybody, it seems to go south every time. I think that once I get better equipment, I’ll try to put out something for DoD. It’ll happen someday, I promise!!

Well gang, it’s been fun but I’m gonna get going. See you guys!!

Call It A Bad Romance…

..but I’m trying to make it better with my blog. Greetings to all of my readers who are still with me, even after the “hiatus” that turned into a Sponsored Post-fest.

At the beginning of 2010, I’ve been making some big changes on TheAndySan.com. First off, I decided to eliminate my Bidvertiser ads in order to clean up the look of my website and because they weren’t really doing anything for me. At this rate, you might see an entirely new layout for TheAndySan.com coming up!! Also, I changed how my auto-updates with Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube interact with each other so you won’t get 3-4 of the same updates in a row.

I’m going to be writing original content over the weekend in hopes that it’ll be released next week. I’m not sure if or when I’ll be online next as my online time has become unpredictable lately. Stay tuned!!

Also, I apologize to my YouTube fans for not releasing a new video in awhile. It’s been difficult to record myself as of late due to time and all that, but don’t worry because I’ll also be working on scripts for upcoming videos. I’m not sure when they’ll be released, but they’ll come out for sure!

Well, that’s about all I have to say for now. See you guys later!

What I Think About Steroids

This post is brought to you by steroids: your one-way ticket out of the Hall-of-Fame

Okay boys and girls, so I’ve been offered money to voice my opinion on steroids in 150 words or more so let’s get right into it!

When it comes to medical usage such as nasal spray (betcha didn’t know there were ‘roids in your Flonase, did you?) or in any other situation where steroid use is minor and for a legitimate medical condition, I think that it’s okay to use them. However, when steroids are used to enhance an otherwise healthy person’s physical abilities, I believe that it’s wrong to do so.

Sure, there are certain physical expectations when it comes to sports and competitions, and with steroid use still going strong (no pun intended) despite the advancement of testing people for steroid usage, all it would take is to simply say no to steroids.

Then again, this isn’t elementary school anymore, is it?

*Editor’s Note: I ended up not getting paid for this post because I told you guys I was being paid. Oh well…*

This Hiatus Sucks!

Okay, so before I begin this quick update, I’d like to say how awesome it is that the Monday Night Wars between WWE and TNA are finally starting up! When I saw Bret Hart come out on this week’s Raw, I felt excited about pro wrestling again! Where this will go, I have no idea. But I digress…

I’m seriously considering joining the Navy now because I haven’t found a job yet and it doesn’t look like my chances will improve anytime soon. I’ll still look for a job so that I can make some money and get out of the house to do something. I doubt that I’ll move out if I’m joining the Navy though.

I really hope that I’ll make enough money to be able to at least keep this website up before it expires in May (which costs around a total of $106 a year). If not, then I’ll be sure to make a backup of all my stuff and I’ll put everything back up (no pun intended) when I have the money.

I’ve also been thinking of how I can improve the look and feel of TheAndySan.com, and I’ve come up with a couple of ideas so be sure to stop by from time to time to check out the changes!

Well, I’ve been up hella-late so I’m off to bed now. Later!

Last Post Of 2009 & I'm Taking A Short Break

Honestly, I really hate doing these kinds of posts, but I think that honesty is the best policy.

Because my online time has been too erratic lately, I’ve had to delay and even cancel some of my regular posts frequently.

I do not think it’s fair to you my readers and because of that, I’ve decided to take a short break from my regular posting schedule in order to focus on finding a job and trying to move out again. This way, I’ll be able to resume my posting schedule once I move out.

Don’t worry, I’ll still be posting during this time, but I dunno when or how often.

I hope to see you guys again soon in 2010! Bye for now!!

Deja Vuesday – Resolutions For A New Year

Alrighty, so this is the last Deja Vuesday of 2009!

This week, we’ll be going back only a year ago to when I was making my New Year’s Resolutions:

Currently Watching:
G3 – Live in Tokyo

Contrary to popular belief, I am not dead. Just wanted to clear that up.

The Year of The Ox Is Upon Us

So what have I been up to this past week? Well, I hung out with my friends and watched UFC. That was fun. We also ordered an enormous pizza from Cole’s Carry-Out called the King Cole. It was definitely good to get out of the house and do something with my friends again!

Besides that, I’ve been feeling trapped inside the house. Although I now have the freedom to go anywhere since I have a car, I don’t want to waste gas because my savings ran out and I have no money now.

Despite all of that, 2009 is gonna be my year, especially since I was born in the year of the ox (1985)! Here is a list of my new year’s resolutions:

1. Get a Job

Let’s face it, I don’t do much offline. Aside from eating, sleeping, showering, or shitting, I do nothing.

Getting the right job can help me get back on my feet mentally because it’ll be a break from my monotonous routine and I’ll be around some like-minded people for a change.

Also, I’ll have money again. That’s a plus! With this money, I’ll be able to fulfill several of my other resolutions as well as meet my needs.

Throughout this month, I’ve been hanging out with my friends as much as I could since they were in town for the holidays. Now, they’re on their way back to college so it might be awhile before I see them again.

I’ve been looking into several job openings as of late, and I think I might be hired soon. This is great news since I’ll be able to make more money and be able to live on my own again!

2. Live On My Own

I was debating on living with my parents until all of my debt had been paid off, but after reading Steve Pavlina’s newest article on overcoming indecision, I decided to make moving out on my own a priority.

Although I’ll have less money to allocate towards my other debts, my growth as a person is far more important. If I continue to live with my parents, then I’ll be constantly stifled and will be too scared to commit to paying off my debts. I noticed this when I looked at some of my old posts about my debts. I still haven’t done anything towards fixing this problem, and I blame it on living with others that hold me down instead of striking out on my own. Speaking of debts:

Although it was for 2 1/2 months, living on my own has been my most satisfying accomplishment to-date! It’s a no-brainer that I should go back to living on my own since I won’t have my family holding me back from working on my website.

When I get a job, I’ll begin to save up to move out and this time, I’ll do it right and save up the equivalent of at least four months’ rent. This way, if something bad happens to me again, I’ll have the means to cover it without it completely draining me.

3. Budget My Money To Pay Off My Debts

I’ve been in debt for far too long, and I want out! By properly budgeting my money with the advice I have been getting from the North Shore Advisory, Inc, I will set aside money to pay off my debts. Before I pay off anything, I’ll get my credit report so that I know all of what I owe.

To start things off, I’ll pay a little on my student loans so that I don’t go into default and then I’ll work my way up focusing on one debt at a time. I don’t expect to be 100% debt-free by 2009’s end, but I do expect to have at least taken out a good-sized chunk of my debt by then.

Although I intended to at least work on my debts in 2009, I haven’t done anything. Next year, if I’m financially able to, I want to at least work on some of my smaller debts so that I’m one step closer to being debt-free!

4. Buy Myself Some New & Exciting Things

With all this talk about getting out of debt, I also want to have some fun too! There are several things that I’ve been wanting to buy for years, but I never got around to it because of one reason or another.

I want to get myself a new computer first. Two actually. I want to get the Acer Inspire One netbook so that I can have the portability advantage of a laptop without the outrageous price tag. Also, the thing’s pimp as hell!

The second computer that I want to get is a Dell XPS 420 desktop/monitor bundle. It features a quad-core, which will make everything that I do online a breeze. Also, a flat-screen monitor and USB 2.0!! It’s pretty sad to admit that my desktop still uses USB 1.1, hehe. My current CRT monitor is so bulky that it’s right in front of my face when I sit down at my desk. My eyes will thank me!

Ever since I first heard of Carvin Guitars by listening to housethegrate and his brother Ashane, I’ve wanted a Carvin axe of my own!! For 2009, I want to get either a DC-127C or a V220C model. They’re both under $2,000 (the Dc-127C is $1,709 and the V220C is $1,654) and will be simply amazing!

Buying a new guitar amplifier is also on my list. Even though I started playing guitar again on January of 2005 (I can’t believe that it’s been almost 4 years already!), I still have the same amp I started out with. It would be different if it sounded good, but it’s just a crappy 15-watt practice amp. The two amps that I’m debating between are the Bugera 6262 combo and the Peavey Vypyr Tube 120 combo. I’ve read great reviews and watched demos of both on YouTube, and I gotta say that they have what appears to be a dynamite sound! I’m leaning more towards the Vypyr since it’s so versatile, but I’m not for sure until I play on them both.

Also, I might have to put some money towards my car just in case this one dies on me. If all else fails, I can temporarily put all of my saved-up money towards either fixing the car or purchasing another car.

I might not have gotten the netbook that I wanted, but I got a way-better laptop instead! Thanks eBay!!

In July, I tried to save up for a new guitar or amp with my tip money and spare change, but I had to ultimately use it to help me move back in with my parents. After I move out again and get all settled in, I want to save up again for a new guitar or amp.

5. Go On A Trip

I’ve always wanted to take a trip around the country, especially with my friends! The big question is where. I’m thinking someplace on the west coast. I’ve never been to that part of the US and I really want to.

There is also the possibility of MAGfest. According to their site,

“MAGFest is a video and computer gaming festival run by fans, for fans. It’s similar to most fan-based (anime, scifi, etc) conventions, but aims to be more of a laid-back video game party atmosphere. No crowded show floors here, but rather lots of fan art, film and music, and room to relax. Our special guests fit right in and socialize with the rest of the crowd. Game movies and cartoons are shown weekend-long. In addition to our 10 000 square foot game room, lots of attendees set up games in their rooms and invite others inside.

Perhaps most importantly, MAGFest has a huge focus on game music — multiple concerts worth — filled with video game music tributes, some even with the original composers! On Friday and Saturday nights multiple bands perform on our main stage, and our ‘JamSpace’ is open 24 hours for collaborative music and special treats alike.”

Although I’m not as big of a gamer as I used to be, the main reason I would go is for the video game music. Since I can’t attend the MAGfest that’s coming up in a couple days, I would be aiming for the one at the beginning of 2010. What a way to start off a new decade, huh?!

Once again, I’ll be missing MAGfest 🙁 . It’s really a shame since both The Angry Video Game Nerd and LittleKuriboh will be there! What is it about winters that seem to spell financial doom for me?

6. Make A Living From This Website

As I’ve said before, I want to make this website my main source of income. Right now, I’m making about $24 a month. For 2009, I want to make at least $1,000 a month by year’s end. This isn’t an unreasonable goal at all considering that the income for this site seems to double every month ($5 in September, $10 in October, $20 in November).

So how am I going to make $1,000 a month? First, by continuing to make quality content. Second, by selling private ads here. Lastly, by searching for new methods of making money that I’m currently unaware of and experimenting with them.

Making $1,000 a month online seemed daunting at the time I made the resolution, which is probably why it hasn’t happened this year. Instead, I’m shooting for at least $50 a month by December 2010. Since I’m making about $34 a month already, it should be within my ability to make $50 a month as well.

Throwing It Back At You

So what resolutions are you planning to do for 2009? Are you going to buy something that was previously out of your financial reach? Are you gonna go on a trip? Or are you going to do something completely different?

Tell me what your new year’s resolutions are in the comments. See-ya!

Out of the resolutions that I made for myself at the end of 2008, I’ve done half of them: I moved out, got a job, and bought my first new computer in five years. Granted, I had to quit that job and move back in with my parents, but still!

So what are your resolutions for 2010? Are they the same as last year’s or are they different? Please leave me your thoughts in the comments below!
