Hey gang, It’s TheAndySan back here from MEPS!

If you’re wondering why there’s no sound in this video, it’s because my camera didn’t record it for some odd reason. I tested it again tonight and it recorded just fine so it must have been just a freak thing I guess.

I’m proud to announce that I PASSED my weigh-in at MEPS!! I still have to diet and exercise to keep my weigh down, but I don’t have to be quite as strict about it. Needless to say, I’m really excited!!

I do have some bad news though. I wasn’t able to get my rating (job) or be sworn in because they didn’t have any ratings for men that day (just women). I’m going back to MEPS for the 3rd time at the end of the month in hopes that I’ll get my IT rating. If it’s not available, I wouldn’t mind doing something else in the Cryptology department,

As I had promised in my previous vlog, I has a surprise for you guys! I got my Federal tax return back and decided to spoil myself a little bit, so I bought a used copy of Pokemon Diamond for about $20 at GameStop. I know, I know; I’m too old to play these kiddie games, but I love the original RPG-style Pokemon games very much! In fact, it was through the Pokemon comics in Nintendo Power that I began to watch Pokemon on TV and thus anime. Even though I watched My Neighbor Totaro and Samurai Pizza Cats long before Pokemon, it was Pokemon along with DragonBall-Z that originally got me interested in anime.

Anyway, I’d also like to ask you guys for some ideas for future videos. I have a couple in mind, but I want to hear from you, my audience, first. Please feel free to leave me your suggestions in the comments below!

If it’s an idea for an anime review, please try to make it a 13-26 episode series instead of a long epic like Naruto or One Piece. It’s not that I hate long-running anime (I love Bleach and I’m getting back into One Piece), it’s just that it would take me forever to do a review for them, and even if I did manage to do it, it would be too generic as the great seasons (or sagas, whatever you call them) would be weighed down by the crappy ones. For now, I’d also like to stick with something from within the past five years to draw in more viewers. OVAs are perfectly acceptable too! I’m also bouncing around an idea in my head for a collab video with my best bud Eriopolis, so keep your eyes peeled for that too!

Well kids, that’s all the time I have for today. I won’t be able to get online at all next week so I’ll see you guys sometime the following week, probably before I go back to MEPS. Until then, I’ll be playing Pokemon Diamond and watching some newly-downloaded anime. See ya next time!!

TheAndySan

P.S: If you didn’t hear any background music, it’s because I had to remove it. If I did, I apologize.

BGM Title: “Taking The ‘A’ Train”

I recorded this vlog earlier today, but I’m writing this from the hotel room that I stay in until I go to MEPS in the morning. Wish me luck with the weigh-in!

That’s right, I’m gonna go in and get weighed and measured and then discuss what my rating (job) will be in the Navy as well as when I’ll ship out for basic training/boot camp. I’m proud to say that as of this morning, I’m under 200 lbs!! That means I lost over 20 lbs in a month-and-a-half!!

As I’ve said before, I’m shooting for the IT rating, which involves fixing computers and stuff (from what I’ve read online). I plan on going back to college when my 4 years of active are done, and hopefully study abroad in Japan. I’m not sure if I’ll be allowed to leave the country while I’m inactive so if any of you guys know, please leave me a comment below!

Although I said I was gonna do my own taxes (and I was almost done too), I decided to get them done professionally because my school taxes were a little screwy and I didn’t want the IRS on my ass for a couple bucks. They took out a shit-ton for fees and junk so I won’t be able to get a guitar or a camera. I will be getting something special though so look forward to the surprise!

Well kids, I’d better head to bed soon since I gotta get up super-early. Good night!

I might be getting a new guitar or a camera soon, depending on how much I get back from my income tax return.

If I’m able to get a guitar, I’ll be getting a PRS SE One in Antique White. I want to add a neck humbucker to it as well as change the positions of the volume knob and the 3-way pickup selector switch that I’ll need.

If I’m unable to get a guitar, I’ll just get a Sanyo Xacti VPC TH1.

I’m also getting close to raising the amount for keeping TheAndySan.com online for another year with only about $20 left to go!

As far as my weight goes, I finally reached my goal of losing 15 lbs this past Friday! My Navy recruiter decided to reschedule when I go back in to MEPS for this Thursday-Friday so I’ll just be doing more situps and running outside to shrink my waist until then.

Even though I lost over 15 lbs and can fit into Size 34 jeans again, which I haven’t been able to do since high school, I’ve only lost an inch around my waist. It’s certainly not bad, but I expected to lose more inches along with the pounds.

Well, it’s been fun, but I’m gonna hit the sack soon so I’ll see you guys on the flipside! Have fun!

TheAndySan

P.S: If you didn’t hear any background music, it’s because I had to remove it. If I did, I probably should have listened to HikoSaemon in the first place and used something with a Creative Commons License, haha!!

Hey guys! I didn’t think I’d have enough time to do a post today, but fortunately I have just enough time to do this week’s Deja Vuesday!!

In this week’s Deja Vuesday, I’m gonna take a look back 3 years ago <a href="http://www.theandysan.com/love"title="I Think I'm In Love" >when I was contemplating a relationship with a foreign exchange student from China:

Hey guys it’s the Andy-San here chizzillin’ in my room after watching a most excellent performance from Frederick Winters in the Student Center. I haven’t laughed so hard in a very long time! Seriously, this guy is the shit!

I think I still have the CD/DVD that I got from him that night lying around here somewhere…

Today I got a job working in the IT department. It’ll be hell on my lunches but I’ll finally have an income and be doing something that I wanna do. I also did my laundry today as well. Since my MP3 player decided to take a monster shit on me (it won’t turn on at all even when it’s plugged into the USB) I was gonna play Tetris until my laundry was done. However I decided to do something far moar entertaining: play my guitar while in my underwear. I’ll set the scene for you; I’m in the laundry room washing/drying my clothes while I’m wearing a shirt, underwear, and socks and on top of that I’m playing my guitar while sitting on the folding table.

The IT job was awesome at first, but it got boring since Adam and Phil didn’t have me do much and I eventually quit in March.

I really want to party at Wright State this weekend, but chances are E is still gonna be drugged out on his pillz til Sunday (he got some weird sickness from Dan and he’s been hopped up on antibiotics since Friday). Dammit E; double-time your pill-poppin’!!!1

Being without a car in college is lame. Just saying.

I’ve been keeping a bit of a secret. Ever since coming back to UU, I’ve been debating over whether I should get into a relationship or not. There’s this one girl that I’m very interested in, but I’m not sure if I should get involved with her because I don’t know if she wants to be more than friends. Damn it’s about as bad as high school, except I actually have a chance with the girl I’m after. On one hand, I really want to start a relationship with her and she would be my first actual girlfriend. On the other hand, I don’t want to be exclusive before I’ve had some experience with other women. I don’t mean just sexual experience (although that is a plus); rather an overall experience.

Well I’m gonna read some Negima! so catch ya later!

Andy-San

There are times where I regret not getting into a relationship when I was at UU, but then again, it was probably for the best considering that I was booted out at the end of the semester.

Sorry if this week’s Deja Vuesday seemed rushed, but I’m still working on an upcoming vlog that should be uploaded to YouTube sometime next week. I’ll be discussing some very important things in the vlog relating to what’s going on in my life. Stay tuned for that, and I’ll see you guys later!

Before we begin this week’s Deja Vuesday, I’d like to talk to you guys about something important.

After declaring a week or so ago that I was going on hiatus and then writing a bunch of sponsored posts, it might be safe to say that the hiatus is done. I don’t know for sure though as my online time is still limited, which makes scheduling posts (mainly video-based posts) very difficult. Also, I’m usually creatively drained come the beginning of the year so my posts tend to be sporadic and the quality varies.

I just want to say thanks to you guys for still sticking with me throughout all of this and I hope to be back to my regular posting schedule as soon as I can.

Now, without further ado, let’s begin this week’s Deja Vuesday! We’re gonna kick things off with a look back to five years ago <a href="http://www.theandysan.com/01112005"title="01/11/2005" >when I first played Yu-Gi-Oh! Online:

01/11/2005

1/11/2005

Hey ya! I just changed the Whuzzupp theme to a much better Earthworm Jim 2 song and I updated the long-forgotten Linx section. I also want to congradulate Eric on his new laptop. Hopefully he’ll update more now.

Actually, Eriopolis recently built himself a killer new desktop! I haven’t seen it yet, but he says it’s got all kinds of awesome stuff in it like a quad-core processor and DDR3 RAM (I bet I’m gonna laugh at myself when I read this years from now)!

Well kids, I finally got my hands on the new Yu-Gi-Oh Online game and I gotta tell ya, it’s got potential. Imagine a Yu-Gi-Oh game that is never out of date; it has all the booster sets and promos, plus there’s a possibility that Upper Deck might release cards exclusive to Yu-Gi-Oh Online. You never know (wink, wink). However, there are drawbacks to the game. Actually, they’re more of double-edged swords than disadvantages. The game has a timer; you get 180 seconds to complete your turn and 30 seconds to decide whether or not to activate the effect of a card. If you run out of time for either situation, you automatically lose. This has actually helped me win a couple duels. On the whole (heh, heh), I like the timer because it eliminates the real scorge of the Yu-Gi-Oh game: the 1-hour turn-takers.

You know the type. The kind of people who just bought a Starter Deck and who can’t decide between wearing black or white socks. Or the kind who used to or still does play Magic or D&D or a similar game, and they’re used to taking forever to finish, and they take ages to finally Set a Monster and End their Turn. No offense to newbies, or the apperantly offensive term n00b, but sometimes you annoy me. Lucky for you, most of the time I’m willing to help you guys out. *sigh* Had to get that off my chest.

By the way, if any of you out there also have the game, my online name is “04smelsa”. We’ll duel sometime. Anyway, the online service is free until around April, but I don’t care. I’ll probably subscribe anyway.

It seems that Yu-Gi-Oh! Online is still going strong despite the franchise’s waning popularity. Although there have been times that I felt like dusting off my old Yu-Gi-Oh! deck, I think that my time as a duelist has long since past. Who knows, I might pick up the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! video game and get back into it all over again. Now, if only there was a Magic: The Gathering video game for the Nintendo DS too…

In other news, the effects of the tsunami still ring here in Ohio, in the form of consistantly BLAH weather. It’s either raining or cloudy. I feel like I’m in Seattle. Now, why do I feel the urge to play Nirvana…?

Anyway, I also added some cool pics in the About Me section. They’re some of my favorite characters. Well, I gotta go. Bye!

“Smooth move, Ex-Lax!”

-John from McDonald’s

While it hasn’t been raining here lately, it has been snowing. A lot! I hate driving in the snow!!

Now let’s finish it off with a look back to three years ago <a href="http://www.theandysan.com/baaaaaaaaack1"title="I'm Baaaaaaaaack!!!!1" >when I came back to UU after being put on academic suspension:

I’m Baaaaaaaaack!!!!1

Sup my peeps this be the Andy-San back here at UU!!! After a grueling period of not knowing if I can come back or not, I’m FINALLY BACK!!!! My mom said that my stepdad and I need some space so she said that I won’t be able to come back home til Spring Break. I’ll definatly have to do my laundry here til then so yeah. I’m so damn psyched to be back in UU again. My stepdad was right about one thing; I do need a job. I’ll look into getting a workstudy job with the IT department tomarrow along with finding out the status of my financial aid.

As you can tell, I was very excited & relieved to be back at UU after I had written back and forth to the admissions department. Unfortunately, as you all know, I was kicked out for good at the end of the semester due to me not giving a crap after finding out that I would need to pay off the previous semester before I could continue and that my financial aid wouldn’t cover it for me.

My life took some major twists and turns after that; some good and some bad. Earlier this month, I made a decision that would help me get back to college and even take me to Japan! I’m gonna record & upload a vlog this week that’ll explain it in more detail. Stay tuned for that!!

In other news, the DoD project fell through because we ran out of time and because I couldn’t play some measures. It also didn’t help that I was facing a possible suspension from UU at the time either. Don’t fear, the majority of the project is done and saved on E’s hard drive so I’ll supergank it so he doesn’t accidentely delete it (he has a bad habit of doing that). Perhaps we’ll have it done for the next free month. Sorry guys.

Well I’m gonna go celebrate my return with E and Dan so peace-out to all my homies and a big thanks to everyone who supported me during this very rough patch in my life.

Andy-San

Ah, the DoD project! Yeah, although I’ve tried many times to finally get it recorded with everybody, it seems to go south every time. I think that once I get better equipment, I’ll try to put out something for DoD. It’ll happen someday, I promise!!

Well gang, it’s been fun but I’m gonna get going. See you guys!!

Alrighty, so this is the last Deja Vuesday of 2009!

This week, we’ll be going back only a year ago to <a href="http://www.theandysan.com/resolutions-year"title="Resolutions For A New Year" >when I was making my New Year’s Resolutions:

Currently Watching:
G3 – Live in Tokyo

Contrary to popular belief, I am not dead. Just wanted to clear that up.

The Year of The Ox Is Upon Us

So what have I been up to this past week? Well, I hung out with my friends and watched UFC. That was fun. We also ordered an enormous pizza from Cole’s Carry-Out called the King Cole. It was definitely good to get out of the house and do something with my friends again!

Besides that, I’ve been feeling trapped inside the house. Although I now have the freedom to go anywhere since I have a car, I don’t want to waste gas because my savings ran out and I have no money now.

Despite all of that, 2009 is gonna be my year, especially since I was born in the year of the ox (1985)! Here is a list of my new year’s resolutions:

1. Get a Job

Let’s face it, I don’t do much offline. Aside from eating, sleeping, showering, or shitting, I do nothing.

Getting the right job can help me get back on my feet mentally because it’ll be a break from my monotonous routine and I’ll be around some like-minded people for a change.

Also, I’ll have money again. That’s a plus! With this money, I’ll be able to fulfill several of my other resolutions as well as meet my needs.

Throughout this month, I’ve been hanging out with my friends as much as I could since they were in town for the holidays. Now, they’re on their way back to college so it might be awhile before I see them again.

I’ve been looking into several job openings as of late, and I think I might be hired soon. This is great news since I’ll be able to make more money and be able to live on my own again!

2. Live On My Own

I was debating on living with my parents until all of my debt had been paid off, but after reading Steve Pavlina’s newest article on overcoming indecision, I decided to make moving out on my own a priority.

Although I’ll have less money to allocate towards my other debts, my growth as a person is far more important. If I continue to live with my parents, then I’ll be constantly stifled and will be too scared to commit to paying off my debts. I noticed this when I looked at some of my old posts about my debts. I still haven’t done anything towards fixing this problem, and I blame it on living with others that hold me down instead of striking out on my own. Speaking of debts:

Although it was for 2 1/2 months, living on my own has been my most satisfying accomplishment to-date! It’s a no-brainer that I should go back to living on my own since I won’t have my family holding me back from working on my website.

When I get a job, I’ll begin to save up to move out and this time, I’ll do it right and save up the equivalent of at least four months’ rent. This way, if something bad happens to me again, I’ll have the means to cover it without it completely draining me.

3. Budget My Money To Pay Off My Debts

I’ve been in debt for far too long, and I want out! By properly budgeting my money, I will set aside money to pay off my debts. Before I pay off anything, I’ll get my credit report so that I know all of what I owe.

To start things off, I’ll pay a little on my student loans so that I don’t go into default and then I’ll work my way up focusing on one debt at a time. I don’t expect to be 100% debt-free by 2009′s end, but I do expect to have at least taken out a good-sized chunk of my debt by then.

Although I intended to at least work on my debts in 2009, I haven’t done anything. Next year, if I’m financially able to, I want to at least work on some of my smaller debts so that I’m one step closer to being debt-free!

4. Buy Myself Some New & Exciting Things

With all this talk about getting out of debt, I also want to have some fun too! There are several things that I’ve been wanting to buy for years, but I never got around to it because of one reason or another.

I want to get myself a new computer first. Two actually. I want to get the Acer Inspire One netbook so that I can have the portability advantage of a laptop without the outrageous price tag. Also, the thing’s pimp as hell!

The second computer that I want to get is a Dell XPS 420 desktop/monitor bundle. It features a quad-core, which will make everything that I do online a breeze. Also, a flat-screen monitor and USB 2.0!! It’s pretty sad to admit that my desktop still uses USB 1.1, hehe. My current CRT monitor is so bulky that it’s right in front of my face when I sit down at my desk. My eyes will thank me!

Ever since I first heard of Carvin Guitars by listening to housethegrate and his brother Ashane, I’ve wanted a Carvin axe of my own!! For 2009, I want to get either a DC-127C or a V220C model. They’re both under $2,000 (the Dc-127C is $1,709 and the V220C is $1,654) and will be simply amazing!

Buying a new guitar amplifier is also on my list. Even though I started playing guitar again on January of 2005 (I can’t believe that it’s been almost 4 years already!), I still have the same amp I started out with. It would be different if it sounded good, but it’s just a crappy 15-watt practice amp. The two amps that I’m debating between are the Bugera 6262 combo and the Peavey Vypyr Tube 120 combo. I’ve read great reviews and watched demos of both on YouTube, and I gotta say that they have what appears to be a dynamite sound! I’m leaning more towards the Vypyr since it’s so versatile, but I’m not for sure until I play on them both.

Also, I might have to put some money towards my car just in case this one dies on me. If all else fails, I can temporarily put all of my saved-up money towards either fixing the car or purchasing another car.

I might not have gotten the netbook that I wanted, but I got a way-better laptop instead! Thanks eBay!!

In July, I tried to save up for a new guitar or amp with my tip money and spare change, but I had to ultimately use it to help me move back in with my parents. After I move out again and get all settled in, I want to save up again for a new guitar or amp.

5. Go On A Trip

I’ve always wanted to take a trip around the country, especially with my friends! The big question is where. I’m thinking someplace on the west coast. I’ve never been to that part of the US and I really want to.

There is also the possibility of MAGfest. According to their site,

“MAGFest is a video and computer gaming festival run by fans, for fans. It’s similar to most fan-based (anime, scifi, etc) conventions, but aims to be more of a laid-back video game party atmosphere. No crowded show floors here, but rather lots of fan art, film and music, and room to relax. Our special guests fit right in and socialize with the rest of the crowd. Game movies and cartoons are shown weekend-long. In addition to our 10 000 square foot game room, lots of attendees set up games in their rooms and invite others inside.

Perhaps most importantly, MAGFest has a huge focus on game music — multiple concerts worth — filled with video game music tributes, some even with the original composers! On Friday and Saturday nights multiple bands perform on our main stage, and our ‘JamSpace’ is open 24 hours for collaborative music and special treats alike.”

Although I’m not as big of a gamer as I used to be, the main reason I would go is for the video game music. Since I can’t attend the MAGfest that’s coming up in a couple days, I would be aiming for the one at the beginning of 2010. What a way to start off a new decade, huh?!

Once again, I’ll be missing MAGfest . It’s really a shame since both The Angry Video Game Nerd and LittleKuriboh will be there! What is it about winters that seem to spell financial doom for me?

6. Make A Living From This Website

As I’ve said before, I want to make this website my main source of income. Right now, I’m making about $24 a month. For 2009, I want to make at least $1,000 a month by year’s end. This isn’t an unreasonable goal at all considering that the income for this site seems to double every month ($5 in September, $10 in October, $20 in November).

So how am I going to make $1,000 a month? First, by continuing to make quality content. Second, by selling private ads here. Lastly, by searching for new methods of making money that I’m currently unaware of and experimenting with them.

Making $1,000 a month online seemed daunting at the time I made the resolution, which is probably why it hasn’t happened this year. Instead, I’m shooting for at least $50 a month by December 2010. Since I’m making about $34 a month already, it should be within my ability to make $50 a month as well.

Throwing It Back At You

So what resolutions are you planning to do for 2009? Are you going to buy something that was previously out of your financial reach? Are you gonna go on a trip? Or are you going to do something completely different?

Tell me what your new year’s resolutions are in the comments. See-ya!

TheAndySan

Out of the resolutions that I made for myself at the end of 2008, I’ve done half of them: I moved out, got a job, and bought my first new computer in five years. Granted, I had to quit that job and move back in with my parents, but still!

So what are your resolutions for 2010? Are they the same as last year’s or are they different? Please leave me your thoughts in the comments below!

Happy Holidays everybody!!

Sorry this came out waaaay later than normal, but I had a ton of stuff to do today.

For this week’s Holiday Edition of Deja Vuesday, I’d like to take a look back to five years ago <a href="http://www.theandysan.com/12222004"title="12/22/2004" >when I was reflecting upon the financial consequences of buying a $23,000 trading card:

12/22/2004

Hey, what’s goin’ on? I finally added the TTGC bios after I forgot to last time. Sorry! I removed the cool former theme of Whuzzupp!! for an adequete Mega Man X3 Intro Stage MIDI. The reason behind this is because everytime I try to add anything to the site, my data transfer limit is exceeded. So while we will all miss this incredibly cool theme, I must remove it for the sake of the rest of the site. If you want the song, contact me and put in your subject “Song”, otherwise I might not read it. Accursed SPAM!!!! See my new “About Me” page for contact info.

Back then, it was hard to add multimedia to websites because you were always afraid of exceeding the allowed daily bandwidth, even if you were just checking the pages to see if everything was working. Now, it’s much easier to add multimedia to a website thanks to services like YouTube and Flickr, not to mention the increased bandwidth that’s able to handle it all.

Sometimes, I miss the early days because websites were simpler to design and maintain than nowadays, but all I have to do is visit a random MySpace page to remind myself that technology progresses for a reason.

Well boys and girls, the holidays are upon us. And yes, I did here about the idiot that bought the $23,000 Cyber-Stein when he knows full well that Upper Deck is gonna re-release it as an easier-to-get promo card. Duh! And my folks say that spending $20 on cards is stupid…I mean honestly, who out there has 23 large to spend on one single card? Anyone? C’mon, don’t be shy. I guess no one except that idjit (translation: big idiot). Now if I had 23 big ones, besides obvious choices on what to spend it on, (car, house, semi-permenent vacation from McDonald’s, the list goes on), I would make sure it was all well-spent. Even if I used every last cent on nothing but Yu-Gi-Oh cards, I would make sure I got the most bang for my buck. For example, instead of getting 1 card, I would get lots and lots of booster boxes. Or better yet, I would buy UDE stock.

The first review of the (at the time) tournament legal Cyber Stein can be found here via Pojo.com. Five years later, I still think that $23,000 is a ridiculous amount to pay for a trading card!

Well anyway, now that I’m out of Rant-Mode, I finally have my computer upgraded and man, what a difference! I went from my rockin (sarcastic) 128 MB of RAM to a poultry 640 MB of RAM. I also got a DVD burner, which is kickin’! I can’t wait to get another 512 MB stick of RAM! As of this update, all of my Christmas shopping is done! Huzzah!! All I have to do is give out the presents for my friends Eric and Steve. By the way, Eric; if you’re reading this, please update your site. I’m sure all of us would love to here what you’ve been up to lately.

Oh my, how the times have changed! In March of 2009, I bought my HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop on eBay, which is also my third computer overall. It has 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56 dual-core processor, and a DVD burner. Ironically, the laptop’s DVD burner is slower than the one for my desktop, and it’s five years old!

Since I don’t have a job, I don’t have the funds to buy stuff for my friends (or even myself). Sorry guys!

Speaking of jobs, I did have an interview today for a temporary position at a local bank that went well. I should hear back from them by the beginning of next year if I’m hired. I can’t wait!! *fingers crossed*

In other news, our local Wal-Mart is announcing a Duelist League coming in January. That’s all I heard so far. I will keep you updated when possible. Another bit of local news, we are scheduled to be buried in snow 5 to 10 inches deep. Huzzah!! A White Christmas!!!

Well, boys and girls, it’s that time. Time to go the the outside world to deliver the first of my presents to Steve, as he is the closest, it’s getting dark, and with the descent of 5-10 in. of snow coming, he is the best choice. Sorry Eric, but you and Ben’s present is coming. Buh-By!

“Pokemon?! Pokemon!! With the Poke and the Mon, and the guy, he comes out, and he goes ‘awhaga, awhaga, awhaga’!

-A relative translation of Bill Cosby’s reaction to Pokemon on an episode of The Simpsons.

Yeah, the Wal-Mart Duelist League never happened. It got as far as the flyers and that’s about it .

It’s too bad that I didn’t get into Magic: The Gathering as much as I did for Yu-Gi-Oh! because I sometimes miss playing it with Eriopolis, Cody, and everybody else. Since there’s no (decent) MTG video game and the online version is so-so, I can’t practice by myself. Also, money’s tight so my buying abilities are limited.

Well gang, it’s been fun, but I gotta work on some stuff so see you guys later!

Hey guys, it’s time for this week’s Deja Vuesday!!

Just like last week’s Deja Vuesday, I thought that I’d make this one double-sized too.

Let’s start off with a post I did three years ago <a href="http://www.theandysan.com/mindride"title="What a MindRide..." >when I was on Christmas Break from UU:

What a MindRide…

…Yo it be the Andy-San here at home again.

It seems that I’m updating more than I thought I would be. Anyway, I just got done watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and I gotta say it’s quite the mindride. I still have to see the movies though.

Lately, I’ve been watching several anime series like Sora no Otoshimono (aka the flying panties anime) and Ichigo Mashimaro. They’re pretty good, but I’m still holding out for the next big series.

Now that I’m done watching Eva for the time being, I can focus on completing the DoD project. I’m not sure if I should record it at E’s or here on Jon’s computer.

Ahh, the DoD project! It was a good idea, but I was so unskilled on guitar at that time, not to mention trying to schedule recording during Christmastime, that it didn’t happen. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll enter. One day…

For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, DoD stands for Dwelling of Duels and it’s a monthly contest where you submit a cover of a video game song.

I’ve also made it my goal to lose weight as soon as I come back to UU. I’ll walk, eat right, and do what it takes to get down to my goal of 170 lbs (I’m at 220 lbs).

Well I’m off for a walk. Laterz!

Andy-San

I’ve been working out for the past week to lose some weight (at least 2 inches from my waist). I’m doing this so that I can get into the Navy Reserve. I’ll cover why I decided to join in an upcoming vlog as there’s too much to discuss in this post.

Okay then, let’s go over a post I wrote one year ago <a href="http://www.theandysan.com/listen-blog"title="Who Do You Listen To When You Blog?" >when I was discussing what music I listen to when I write:

Who Do You Listen To When You Blog?

Currently Listening To:
Al Di Meola – Elegant Gypsy Suite
03 – Mediterranean Sundance

Music is an important, although overlooked, aspect of writing.

When I wrote back in college, I listened to a lot of heavy metal. I noticed that my overall tone was of anger and immediacy. Of course other circumstances contributed to my tone (financial problems, depression, etc.), but music certainly had a helping hand.

Nowadays when I write, I usually listen to guys like Al Di Meola and Owl City. They’re super-mellow and allow me to think clearly when I write.

What do you guys listen to while you’re writing? Do you have any music on or do you think that silence is golden? Do you prefer ambient background noise to music? I’d like to hear what you have to say in the comments below!!

TheAndySan

Not much has changed since I wrote this as I still listen to mellow music when I write. In fact, I’m listening to Owl City right now as I’m writing this!

Don’t get me wrong, I sometimes listen to heavier and faster music when I write; but for the most part, I stick with Owl City and Al Di Meola.

Well, this has been a fun romp through some of my back catalog, but I’m going out to eat so I’ll see you guys later!

TheAndySan

P.S: Sorry this post came out later than normal, but I had some stuff to take care of this afternoon. It’s been hard trying to keep to my posting schedule with my stepdad coming home at unpredictable times.
