I’m Gonna Be A Blogger-For-Hire!!!

Good evening!

I apologize for the lack of a Drawing Of The Day, but I’ve been feeling lax lately. I feel like my creativity has been sucked out of me. Taking the advise of some of the people on the Steve Pavlina forum, I decided to write down some of the things that I wanted to do before I die. No, I’m not dying, but making this list might help me get back on track to what’s really important.

As I was writing down the list, pretty much all I wanted to do was meet people who mean a lot to me. Whether it’s Marty Friedman or Steve Pavlina, I feel an intense need to get to know them. Not in a stalker, “I know what you ate yesterday” way, but just sitting down and talking with them. Of course, I could call them up for an over-the-phone interview if I wanted to, but I feel that’s too impersonal for my tastes. I would like to talk with them face-to-face.

When it comes to my career, I see now that I need to learn a lot more before I try to do something online. In order to do that, I want to do some work as a blogger-for-hire. I’ve seen some openings on the ProBlogger’s Job Board as well as the links I got from the Steve Pavlina forum so I’ll give those a shot. If I can make a decent enough income to at least pay for rent and internet ($270 a month) by blogging, then I won’t need to look for another job. If not, then I’ll look for another job until I can.

Well, I’m gonna watch some Please Teacher so I’ll see you guys later. Good-night!

I wrote an article based on your comment on my blog, and you may find this useful:

I’d advise you to set a time frame to your goal, and create an action plan that would create opportunities netting $270/month. The time frame is so that you know how long you’re willing to try before you take alternative action.

My best to you on your entrepreneurial journey-

You’re definitely on the right track. Have you discovered MorningCoach.com? I discovered it myself via iTunes, JB Glossinger offers a daily podcast. Today’s podcast speaks to what you are struggling with. One key is to have a clear picture of what you want to have. Something that stirs you emotionally each time you think about it. Breakdown your goal into daily income producing action.

Also congratulations on your decision to become an Ex-Employee. I embarked on a similar journey myself about a year ago.

    A few suggestions:

Add a “Contact Me” form to your blog. If someone wants to hire you they need to get hold of you. As it is, I had to go to your About Me page to find an email address. Put it in your right-hand nav area. Don’t make people think, do it for them.

Highlight examples of your best writing. It looks like you have lots of blog entries. No doubt some are better than others. Again, do it for people. Don’t make them go find it.

Think BIG, $270 doesn’t sound like a very exciting amount of money to me. Why not $1,000/month, something that gets YOU excited. What would you buy with that amount per month? How would it change your life? That’s what you need to be thinking about more so than the money itself.

Based on your Twitter photo I thought you might still be in your teens! From your history page I learned you will be 23 in December. You might want to post a photo that show more mature image. I’d suggest a photo that shows you doing something you enjoy with your new life. Not the work part the fun part! Demonstrate the freedom you now have and are building upon each day.

Hey Jim, thanks for the comment! I subscribed to your blog as well!

I did add a Contact Me section in my sidebar, but I guess it’s still too obscured. Do you know where I can get the code for a Contact Me form?

I think adding a Best Of section would be a good idea. I need to make some room for it as I have too much crap up as it is.

I guess you’re right about the money issue. I was thinking too logically and although I’m beginning to earn income from my writing, it’s not enough to make a big financial difference in my life ($2.24 from submitting an anime review). However, I do not think lightly of what I’ve receiving from my work and I’m embracing it (a lesson I learned from Steve Pavlina).

Yeah, I get the “wow, you’re 22?!” comment a lot in person. This is the first time that I received it online. I guess it is high time that I put up a new photo. In your opinion, what should I do to best present myself as “more mature?” If it involves growing facial hair, I can’t do it. It makes me sad sometimes, but I prefer having a clean cut as opposed to a stubbly mess.

Thanks for the insightful comment, Jim!
