This Post Is Brought To You By Online Colleges.
Going to school online has sure come a long way from when I took some of my ITT Tech courses online back in 2004-2006.
Back then, there wasn’t as many opportunities to connect with your professor or your fellow classmates as there are today. All you had were forums and a school email. Usually I’d have very simple questions, but it was difficult to contact the professor and get a quick answer. Sometimes, it would even take days just to get a simple “yes” or “no” reply.
Nowadays with Facebook and Twitter as well as colleges using Instant Messaging, it’s pretty easy to get an answer from your professor or help from your classmates.
There are several benefits to taking college courses online compared to physically going to class:
Typically Lower Costs
From the actual cost of the classes to transportation, online classes save you money.
Time Saver
It’s amazing how much time is spent on going back and forth to class, not to mention having to sit through a long lecture when it would only take you a couple of minutes to get the gist of something.
Choosing Your Own Study Times
Whether you’re a night owl like me or *gasp* a morning person, you can plop on the computer pretty much anytime you want to do homework.
Balancing Work & School
If you have a job that makes it hard to take regular college courses, then online courses are a good alternative.
More Specialized Degree Programs
While it’s best to have a wide umbrella of know-how from a career standpoint, if you wanted to minimize the unnecessary classes and get right into the classes you want to take, online classes would be an excellent choice.
