Twitter Thursday Throwdown: July 16 – July 22, 2009

Greetings everyone! After looking through the first Twitter Thursday Throwdown, I’ve decided to make three changes that you guys will certainly appreciate.

First, the Tweets will be in blockquotes. If you’re viewing this through a feed reader like my personal fav Google Reader, then the quoted text will be indented.

Second, I grouped the blocks of Tweets in chronological order from the oldest Tweet to the most recent. Although the blocks are in chronological order, the individual Tweets are not. I hope to correct this in the future once I find a more efficient way to group them instead of copying and pasting every single Tweet individually. Until then, this will have to do unfortunately.

Third, I’ve decided to not number every TTT simply because I don’t do this with Deja Vuesday and I want TTT to follow a similar pattern to keep things consistent.

If you read my previous TTT, you know that I covered a shift for someone at work and got a three-day weekend in exchange. I thought I was gonna be bored outta my gourd (hey, that rhymed, lol), but I surprisingly wasn’t. I hung out with Eriopolis a good deal of the time and I got caught up on a lot of anime.

I also had some wicked cases of ADD and would randomly eat or nap most of the time.

Before I became a sex spambot magnet extrordinare on Twitter, I would sometimes thank my newest followers in a Tweet. However nowadays, I have to be a bit more careful not to list sexbots because my other followers get mad when I do that. Sorry babes, it’s not you or me, it’s them. I still look at your profiles sometimes, but I digress…

Going to Guitar Center on a weekly basis is still fun, but their inventory doesn’t change as much as I thought it would so the novelty is beginning to wear off. I basically just go there to play a Paul Reed Smith SE Custom 22 in cherryburst plugged into a Peavey Vypyr 100-watt combo amp. I used to try out basically everything within reach, but I’ve found what works for me and stuck to it.

I felt fairly productive that day. I recorded Riff Idea #3 for the Chrome Sparks MySpace page, which was a riff that I had been working on since way back in my Xanga days. Back then, it was tentatively called The Garden. I did two takes of it and even had Ben Miller from Eights and Aces do one. Eriopolis, who is also Ben’s brother, mixed them together so they wouldn’t suck as bad, haha!

For the new recording, I tried my hand at low and high pass filtering with mixed results. I did it because on a certain part of the riff where I hit the acoustic strings hard, the sound comes out all woofy and distorted (in a bad way). It almost sounds like I have a wah pedal cocked while I’m playing some parts because the mids are so funky.

If anyone out there knows where I went wrong in mixing the riff, please leave me a comment. And don’t leave a smart-ass comment like “Well, you went wrong when you decided to pick up a guitar and attempt to play. Go back to working your minimum-wage job and stop posting crappy videos, you punk-ass!” I seem to be attracting those kind of comments ever since I posted videos on YouTube of me singing/slaughtering nine songs.

Listening to some new tracks by Owl City and watching old episodes of Kenan and Kel were just the things I needed right before going to bed!

When I bought my second wall scroll online, I was expecting one as big as my wall scroll of Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is 31 x 43 inches. Instead, I got a dinky 21 x 15 inch one. Needless to say, I was quite unamused. However, I got over the situation and found the perfect spot for it; right smack on the inside of my bedroom door! Looking at it, I noticed that despite its small size, it’s very well detailed, more so than my other wall scroll. I’m not mad anymore that I got an unexpectedly smaller wall scroll; on the contrary, I think it suits the room just the way it is! The next time I buy a wall scroll, however, I’ll pay attention to the proportions.

After talking to Zack at the music store the day before about how often he changes his guitar strings, I realized that I have never changed the strings that were initially on my Dean Exotica Rosewood Supreme acoustic (not to name drop or anything, haha!) when I got it, and I’ve owned that guitar since my 22nd birthday (going on two years ago) when my mom paid it off for me as my de-facto birthday present. I had been slowly paying on it every other week for 3-4 months. Keep in mind that I was working at Andy’s Roadhouse at the time and would exhaust my check just to pay for the gas to get there and the food I ate on my breaks.

So after FINALLY changing the strings with a pack of Martins that I also got when my mom paid the guitar off, I went to fine clip the B string and I clipped too much off. Because it was too short, I couldn’t use it and had to throw it away and wait until morning to get a spare string from the music store, which I got for $1. After putting it on and making sure every string’s in tune, I properly clipped the excess off and had a blast playing my guitar!! I dunno why I didn’t do it sooner, but my guitar sounds even better than the day I first played it!!
